3rd Annual LULAC Latino Arts Awards - Saturday, November 15, 2008
The League of United Latin American Citizens, Council 1057 is proud to announce the 3rd Annual LULAC Latino Arts Awards dedicated to the memory of Albert Soto for his work in arts advocacy and in promoting opportunities for Latino artists.The awards take place Saturday, November 15, 2008 - 2PM to 6PM at the Tucson Museum of Art, 140 N. Main Ave, Tucson, AZ. A $20 donation is suggested.
This Year's Winners!
LULAC Latino Artist Lifetime Achievement Award
To an artist who has contributed significantly to the enhancement of the community
via their artistic creations for twenty of more years via exhibitions, performances or
other forms.
Dr. Alfredo Valenzuela
Albert Soto Arts Advocate of the Year
To an individual, organization, business,etc. who has advocated for higher visibility,
greater access and parity in funding for Latino artists and Latino arts organization
and for the advancement of arts in education.
Ernesto Portillo, Jr.
Individual Artist
To an artist whose work is recognized as creative, innovative and constantly
evolving: always maintaining a high level of excellence while furthering the impact
of the Latino arts in our Arizona-Sonora Border Region. Eva Zorrilla Tessler
Emerging Artist
To an emerging artist (one year or less since first public presentation of their
art form) whose work is recognized as creative and innovative attaining a high level
of excellence while serving as a fine example of the Latino Fine Arts.
Los Cuatro Vientos
Latino Arts Organization
Presented to a Latino-based arts organization which serves to promote the Latino
Fine Arts not only to the Latino/Chicano/Mexicano community of our border region,
but also serves to expose the wonder of the Latino Fine Arts to the extended
community. Borderlands Theatre
Latino Arts Supporter
Presented to an institution, organization or business for outstanding support
(financial and/or in-kind) that benefits the Latino arts and Latino artists.
The Bunny Show
The LULAC Latino Arts Awards are sponsored by
Amigos de Pima and LULAC Council 1057, benefiting the
Hispanic Student Endowment Fund of the Pima Community College Foundation
Saturday, November 15, 2008 - 2PM to 6PM at the
